Williamsburg Family Vacations
Overview
America's Historic Triangle, located in Virginia's Tidewater
region, connects Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. The region,
sometimes dubbed "the Kids' Corner of Virginia," offers
plenty of fun -- much of it in the form of hands-on history.
Colonial Williamsburg, a 301-acre living history museum recreates
18th-century life in the capital of Virginia. Walk the streets,
and you and your family can imagine -- or even meet -- George
Washington and Patrick Henry, as well as ordinary townspeople.
At the Yorktown Battlefield, envision the last significant battle
of the American Revolution, and at the Yorktown Victory Center,
meet Continental Army re-enactors. In Jamestown, take in the same
views of the river that pioneers once enjoyed, and learn how to
weave baskets, tan hides and defend a fort at Jamestown Settlement.
In summer, top off your historic getaway with good, old-fashioned
fun at the area's theme parks -- Busch Gardens Williamsburg and
its sister park, Water Country USA.
